Additions and renovations to the four-story Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA included new operating rooms, catheterization labs, emergency department, critical care unit, medical/surgical unit, histology, and stat labs, and nursing support.
Windward provided MEP engineering as well as fire protection and lighting design services to the hospital’s 120,000 SF expansion and 45,000 SF renovations to the existing facility. Specific building system designs include a new 500-ton chilled water plant for the addition and renovation spaces. The heating system derived from the existing steam heating plant and new steam to hot water heat exchangers are provided for hot water throughout the new building. Mechanical equipment rooms on each floor of the addition provide air distribution. The electrical system included a new dual-feed service for the entire campus. The new service back feeds the existing hospital services. Two new generators provide 100% emergency backup power to the operating rooms, PACU, and pre-op areas. Medical gases were upgraded in the existing building and extended over to the new building. New water and fire service are provided in the new building.
