The improvements at Lehigh Valley Hospital’s Muhlenberg Campus included private rooms for critical care, cardiac, and medical/surgical patients; expansion of the Regional Heart Center; an intensive care unit; Diagnostic Care Center; new hospital entrance and lobby; cafeteria; pharmacy; chapel; retail space; and increased visitor and staff parking.
Windward provided M/E/P engineering as well as fire protection design services to the 15,000 SF of major renovations that included new treatment bays, exam rooms, and associated support areas. The mechanical system designs included a new air handling unit with chilled and hot water from the existing campus loop. A steam humidifier was added to provide the required humidity levels. The existing automatic temperature control system was upgraded and expanded to handle controls for the renovated areas. Electrical designs included branch circuiting for power and lighting. Plumbing systems were upgraded to handle the additional loads generated.
