This new interdisciplinary research and teaching facility at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA is one of the region’s largest and forward-looking science and research facilities. Science Education & Research Center (SERC) is comprised of seven levels and a basement as well as an open lobby area with a two-story atrium connecting a new corridor to the existing College of Engineering and College of Science to this facility.
Windward provided MEP engineering services as well as fire protection, telecommunications, security, lighting, and retro-commissioning services. The building houses the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computational Science, and Computer Information Science departments. It includes highly flexible research labs and support spaces, classroom and lecture halls, specialized research and core lab with high-bay labs and clean room facilities, offices and administration spaces, public gathering, and exhibit spaces, and informal interaction spaces.
This project achieved LEED Gold certification.
