The Welsh Carson Anderson project consisted of the design and fit out of 2 floors at 599 Lexington Ave in NYC. The project included open offices, private offices, conference rooms, huddle rooms and cafeterias. The reception lobby and conference rooms featured wooden coffered ceilings which the design team used to integrate backlit stretch fabric material and recessed downlights in between. One unique feature of the lobby was the backlit walls which were located behind the reception desk and in the interconnecting stairwell. Because these would be in contact with the public, acrylic panels with a 70% translucency were used to create a homogenously illuminated feature. Conference rooms included multi-zone lighting which allows the client to call up various lighting scenarios at the touch of a button.
