Shawn is responsible for the oversight of all specialized lighting design applications, custom fixture design, and the creative integration of these systems into the overall architectural fabric of projects. He also acts as a practitioner instructor at the Pennsylvania State University where he teaches various lighting related courses in the Architectural Engineering program. At BLS, Shawn is keenly interested in the connection between architecture, light, human centric design.  His passion for design and creating enjoyable environments motivates him to use his creativity and knowledge to bring quality design to every project regardless of size, budget, or time constraints.   

Shawn earned a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Penn State University with a focus on lighting and electrical systems.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of PA, and the state of MD and he holds the LC (Lighting Certified) credential from the NCQLP (National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions).  Additionally, Shawn is a LEED Accredited Professional demonstrating his knowledge and passion for sustainable design.  Shawn is also the president of Nittany Lights, a bi-annual interactive landscape lighting workshop that bridges together Penn State students and professionals in the lighting industry. 

When he is not working, Shawn and his wife Heather enjoy spending time at the Delaware Beaches or attending one of the many youth activities their four children participate in.  He also loves sketching, coaching wrestling, and doing home renovation projects.
