Windward Engineers & Consultants is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services that consist of a design-build narrative, specifications book and certain zone maps, and one-line diagrams for the Red Lake Nation College’s new site across the street from U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis, MN.
The Tribal College’s plans for renovations include transforming three old buildings, located at 900, 910, and 912 Third Street South, into a modern, open, and innovative campus. The state-of-the-art facilities will feature classrooms, training spaces, student services, office space and other student facilities.
Of the 15,000+ Red Lake Tribal members, about half live on the Red Lake Reservation, while a sizable number reside in the Twin Cities metro area, which has one of the largest urban populations of Native people in the U.S. RLNC is already utilizing some of the office space on-site and will continue to do so during the renovations, which are expected to continue for the next year.
The estimated cost of the expansion is $0 million, and RLNC says classes in the new facilities are slated to begin in fall 2023. The Minneapolis site will expand the current College’s mission to provide excellent higher education with a Tribal perspective to Native Americans and others in the Twin Cities.
