The scope of this project involved developing an in-depth energy retrofit pathway to achieve net zero by 2035, primarily through a significant energy and cost-effective GHG emission reductions for SMSC’s 19 buildings (combined GSF of 2.2M). The buildings in the study include a variety of space types like a casino, a convention center, an event center, a museum, convenience stores, an ice arena, hotels, offices, maintenance workshops, greenhouses, a commercial laundry facility, a bottling plant, a wastewater reclamation facility, and a water treatment plant. The study analyzed the existing buildings’ systems, and envelope integrity created calibrated energy models, identified energy savings opportunities, and carbon reduction strategies, and included system selections, low GWP refrigeration system selections, and cost estimates to reduce energy consumption by 50% and reduce carbon emissions.
