Windward provided electrical engineering services for the upgrades to the electrical power distribution system throughout the Thaddeus Stevens College campus. Our work included extensive site surveying and a baseline system study of the short circuit current, over-current device coordination, arc flash hazard, and demand (load versus capacity analysis).
The existing 15 kV switchgear in the vault of the maintenance building was replaced with new 15 kV switchgear with draw-out type feeder breakers and ample spare breakers to accommodate existing feeder loop circuits and building loads. A new 15 kV switchgear was installed to maintain minimal shutdowns. The existing 15 kV (12.47 kV nominal voltage) feeder A&B circuits to each building were replaced with one new feeder loop. Other replacements included pad mount transformers, secondary conductors, service switchboards, and distribution panels in 10 buildings.
